Buddakan
I was definitely impressed. The food is super super good, and the place is gorgeous. Fave appetizer-- like mashed up edamame in a dumpling. yum yum.
calligraphy
As Arabic 1 comes to a close (2 more classes) I thought I'd post some arabic calligraphy. Its a huge basis for Islam because they don't use physical images and icons in their practice the way many other religions use. I especially like the third one down. It says "shookran" meaning thank you-- but the way the letters are organized is something different than I've seen. I can't remember what phrase it is exactly, but there's a sentence that, in the right situation if you say it three times you're automatically converted to Islam--I think they have that phrase written out in some of these.

Yowza
I went to borders to buy a yoga dvd, and thumbed through this book one the guy writers on sex and the city wrote called "He's just not that into you"
Oof! I can't believe how much time chicks spend analyzing dudes.

Cai Guo Qiang
went to the Guggenheim last week to see Cai Guo Qiang's I want to believe exhibit. Its great on Friday nights cuz its pay as you wish. The work was really surreal- playing off a lot of imagery with animals. I wish I could have taken good photos, but the guards were watching like hawks. Pulled a few photos offline

Plant People
I'm doing a project for Mr. Michael Robinson-- making a pdf magazine of ten articles from www.realitysandwich.com
Michael is definitely a great teacher, and the website is definitely something different. Its a whole compilation of new age-esque ideas and news you wouldn't find in mainstream media. Mostly headed by Daniel Pinchback.
Anyways, some of the articles are a little too much for me to handle--- but there was a link to these gorgeous african headwear photographed by Hans Silvester
